  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
This is a HCB 65 center console with 6 Mercury Verado V 12 600 up outboards. Never thought I’d see this in San Diego. Florida maybe

wow, must be a hell of a well supported transom!!!

3600 HP on the back of a boat is insane.
It will need its 1600 gallon GAS tank.
But some rich smoh wanted it.

I glad that boat is on the left coast, just safely aweigh from me.

Looks like my dink! Lol not!

I think it's the new "How many large gold chains can I wear" kind of thing.

Guy at the yard said it was worth 7 million dollars.

6 you say? Hmmph. I guess they couldn't afford 7.

Is there a limit on how many engines a throttle controller can operate?
Or, are the throttle controllers stackable when you keep adding engines?
This later fly-by-wire stuff is beyond my pay grade.

I certainly don't get it but the big big big outboard trend is still gaining speed. I still think my 32' center console is big for an outboard. Just heard Scout is tooling up a 65 footer, Viking is already in the planning stages for something bigger than their brand new 55' outboard.

I hope all these boats have tanks resistant to E10 and E15 because there has been talk of marine fuels with ethanol in them. Me, I don't need to go that fast, even if I could afford a boat like that, which I can't.

My 31 Jupiter with twins is plenty of outboard for me. Fast enough, easy to own and efficient as all get out.

Obviously these craft can fly in comparison to something with inboard diesels made to fish in that size range, but I wonder how efficient they are in this size range. I know if you have to ask you can't afford it...which is true in my case, but wonder what the tipping point is.

In my opinion these are the new version of Skater, Apache, Donzi, etc., basically penis-extensions. How would you even fish off that thing with all those motors in the way?

Guy in our marina has a 30 something Cobia with triple 300's. He's out on Lake Michigan and his steering goes out. It's all fly-by-wire. The only way to get all of the engines back in sync was to shut everything down, turn off the battery switches, wait 30 seconds and power everything back up. Maybe its running Windows 98. Who knows, but I sure wouldn't want to have to do that when I got caught out in 6-8ft seas.

That HCB 65 is about to get topped by the new Scout 67 also with quint V12s…

Looks like CC builders are in the same race for bragging rights Russian Oligarches and Arab sheiks have been engaged in for years with yachts

I couldn’t resist another picture at the dock
