How are things progressing on repairs from the storm? Homes, marinas, boats, towns ??
Very slowly. Home repairs from flooding or tree damage seem to be moving along but there's a lot of competition for the work. The hard hit coastal areas are in need of major rebuilding. There still are a lot of boats stuck on islands and on land that need to be moved. Problem is there are so many of them and only a few barges with cranes big enough to retrieve them. There is one 200 ton crane in our area dealing with hundreds of boats that can only be retrieved from the water. Some of these boats are so far in that they need to use bags to lift and move the boat closer to the crane's reach. Boat repair is another nightmare. We don't have the facilities here to handle this much work and many of those yards are dealing with their own damage so the wait list to get work done is huge. The cold weather isn't helping things either. I'm still amazed how fortunate I was to come through this with such little damage to the boat and only tree clean up and removal at home. How are things progressing on repairs from the storm? If you're not living it it's not news worthy for too long. Same happens here after a big storm hits down south. Big story for a week or so then on to what Lindsay Lohan just got arrested for. It's amazing how fast it went off the news...... Almost an after thought for the rest of the nation, and now with the school shooting..............![]()
Early Christmas present yesterday at about 4:30 in the afternoon. Turns out my new adjuster at the insurance company was extremely helpful and reviewed my claim. In a matter of an hour she called me back and said they are writing the check and I will have the money this week. Make arrangements to move the boat down to N C. Moral of the story is "you gotta believe in Santa". Merry Christmas and to all a good night.
Great news Tom! How are you getting the boat to Slane? It will be nice to get the boat back all restored and upgraded the way you want it. You could take the money and get into a bigger boat but it won't be done the way yours will be after the refit. FYI my mom's maiden name is Tomassetti. Small world.Early Christmas present yesterday at about 4:30 in the afternoon. Turns out my new adjuster at the insurance company was extremely helpful and reviewed my claim.
