Hatteras Model
74' COCKPIT MY (1995 - 1999)
Alright-- it's not a Hatteras but I am confused. I had occasion to blow the horn today. I flipped on the 12v breaker labeled horn and nothing happened. The genset was not on. Arrived at dock. Flipped same breaker on the bridge 12v panel and it activated the horn. And, I cannot find any sort of button or momentary switch beside the 12v on/off ( not momentary) breaker to make the horn sound. Is there any chance that the horn is some combination of 12 and 120volts so that the 12v breaker makes it run when 120 volts is present?

On the 50 ocean I replaced the horn with a 24 volt one. The original ran from a converter or 12 volt charger that serves the bridge. Not a goodnsetup in my book

Could it be a 120v compressor in the ER with a 12v solenoid?

There's a momentary switch for the horn on the dash of the 50 just to the right of the wheel. Poorly marked but there fyi.

If it’s like mine it’s above the helm. Look for a gray or black rubber push button. It should have a SS ring that says horn. Again if it’s like mine.

Thanks all. Back to the boat today to check it out.
