Is the site having problems? I'm finding it to be very SLOOW and several recent posts have not shown up. Some weird line wraps too (at least mine in the editor).

Hmmmm.... No one else must be having an issue. I scan for viruses regularly and also had Norton support look for Trojans and other mal ware and nothing showed up.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to speed things up? I already disabled 'add ons'. The machine is a three year old Toshiba running Windows 7 Professional.

If you are not already using an optimizer like Ccleaner download it and run it regularly (couple of times a week). It also has a registry cleaner feature that I have found makes a big difference in the computers speed on everything. You can download the free version at www.filehippo.com and updates are provided for free as well.

Good Grief... I have ZERO idea what you two are saying... I'm such a puter idiot.... sigh:(

I run Microsoft Security Essentials and SpyBot Search and Destroy. Both are free and have worked well for me.

Eric, Seasons,

Do you know if your suggestions are compatible with Norton Antivirus.

Charlie, Gayle tells me she knew a guy with your name back in Ohio. You?

By the way, this time the HOF is responding just fine. ?????

Bobk,
I have used Ccleaner with Norton, Bitdefender and now Webroot anti-virus software with no problems. Ccleaner empties your recycle bin, cleans out all of your internet cookies which are a leading cause of slow internet and generally tidies up your machine. Don't forget to run the registry cleaner feature after you run the Ccleaner main feature as registry errors are speed killers as well. When it prompts you to save your old registry click yes and save it to a file for future reference. Also, with windows based systems, restarting you computer will also speed things up as windows is adding things as it stays on which will also use up your computer's resources. If you have the ability to run your browser (internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox as I am using) you can select the help tab and restart you browser with the "add-ons" disabled. This can make a huge difference in speed.
PM me if you have any questions.
Good luck
Randy

I use MSE and SpyBot in lieu of Norton, etc. I have had not good experiences with Norton.

I have generally found that Norton itself can be guilty of really slowing things down.

Absolutely. That's why I ditched it.

The funny thing here is it is a new problem for me. Norton has been on the machine since new without this issue. Seems like it started with the 'upgrade' to IE 11. Reboot does nothing. And it is intermittent. In the same session returning to a previous page might be instantaneous or take 20 seconds. And this is the only site where I seem to have issues.

I'll try some of the suggestions and report back.

Try a different browser. SAMS may not work well with your browser

Based on the title of this thread, I thought this was a loaded question.;)

I stopped using IE years ago. Try Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome which I have been using most recently.
