My A C Generator selector switch broke today. Anybody got a source for a new one. This is not the DC battery selector/isolator. It's the AC generator selector switch. Thanks

They do that sometimes.

Looks like an ordinary battery selector switch to me. Are you sure it's not the switch for the generator's DC system? If so there's nothing special about it. Guest still makes them but with a different knob.

If it is for the A.C. you'd have to look at the back of it and see exactly what is going on. They may have substituted that for a rotary switch, but I find that hard to believe. Paralleling two AC generators is not an easy trick and certainly not one that can be achieved with a simple selector switch.

I'm pretty sure it's the dc switch for the a.c. generator.

DC switches just hot. AC would have to switch hot and neutral.

That is the D.C. Selector switch. It is a Guest 2300A-B. That particular style is no longer made. The new ones have a blue /purple colored knob. If you want one that matches the others on your boat you will have to find someone that has stock. I bought mine from iBoats.com for $127. Sams has them in stock at over twice the price. There might be others.

Thanks Scott. It looks like a simple switch on the front end. Just the big copper plates you see in the pic. It has always been set to both, and I've never played with it. I was doing some other work on the boat today and turned off the batteries and turned that one off as well, and it came apart in my hand. It's labeled AC Generator. If I read you right, it just cuts or enables DC power to the ggenny? So a simple battery switch should work.

Does anybody know if the new style Guest 2300A will fit in the panel in place of the old switch?

But why was it always on both?

The idea of w sources is to isolate them. If they are common everything runs down at once and you have no way to start anything if all the batteries are dead.

Those switches work just great right until the moment that they crumble in your hand. Remarkable.

Planned obsolescence at its finest LOL

Do you still have a 32 volt generator starter? I have the same switch but it was disabled when the generator was replaced with a 12 volt starting model.

I had four of those in my boat. When the first one started to give me trouble, I had all four replaced. What ever is happening to one will likely be happening to the others too. Breakdowns away from home is a real PITA.

I did not confirm this, but I was told the new style switch fits in the same hole.

My switches have always been set on both also. Since I have 2 generators, I thought I was selecting genny 1, 2, or both.

Having replaced two of my battery switches, I confirm the replacement is an exact match for installation.

Quick follow up. I ordered the Guest 2300A for my Generator, but I ordered the Guest 2304 for the main engine batteries. The 2304 has a momentary capacity of 1000 amps, and the engine starter motors have a pretty big draw.

all my switches are in tacked except i am missing 1 knob does anybody know where i can just get the knob..

You will need to replace the whole switch. I've replaced all of mine once and one of them twice.
