Hatteras Model
40' DOUBLE CABIN-Series I (1986 - 1989)
Okay, I am sure all of you know the fun I am having with my deisel heater. I am about to pull out the 2 manifolds (send and return) and just run the system in series... Easier as I have no way of knowing what line is what and the line to the saloon is air locked somehow (I hope). Question for now is if there are 5 inlets/outlets per manifold, should i ball valve each off? If so, each line will need both a ball valve and hose barbs (5 ball valves and 10 hose barbs or double?

Off to do laundry for 2 hours and the to Home Cheapo...

Noel

Okay, just went ahead and cut the hoses off the manifold and used hosebarb connectors to put the system in series. Not sure where the actual runs are yet... This spring or summer project but on to the 1.5" Flexible exhaust tubing (from JC Whitney I Hope.) Need close to 68" to make the run from the muffler... Short run is better, However the thru hull is that far away. I do need to redo that at some point (When I figger out how to de-bond the crap the installer used to put it there.) Not sure how he drilled through the side and put it in. But based on his past install issues, something to address soon.

I will post pictures of the exhaust install and the diesel jerry can placement (That is still needing to be addressed... see past posts) to check on the air in the lines issue. However, the 8 kw Onan ran for 9 hours the other day without a hiccup... The heater is on the same line so...

Okay, anyone ever heard of Walker AcoustiSeal (PN #35959) and will it work to seal the exhaust at the muffler and the thru hull?

Okay, got the walker acoustiseal on both ends, Muffler clamps on and the exhaust tape as well as hung... Need to get the pump set up for the non-tox pink to pump thruogh the hoses and heater....

below are some pics of the exhaust pipe re-install

Don't know what your installation looks like, but when I did mine I left several feet of exhaust WITHOUT insulation wrap...in a place where nothing was close and no danger of burning me....A diesel heater exhaust gets to several hundred degrees so I also added a small fan to come on when the heater runs to move air over the exposed length of exhaust.....was like having another length of heat fin in the engine room...free heat....
