We often gripe about poor customer service and tech support... We often see report of companies not supporting products after a few years and forcing you to buy a new one at a slightly reduced list price, often close to on line discounted prices.
One of the manufacturer which doesn't play these games is Headhunter. They have a good reputation for producing what is probably one of the best water pump out there (I hear their heads are pretty good too). Not cheap but good pressure and 3 times the flow of your typical boat pump.
Well after 9 years, the one we have on Charmer, the 70 footer i run, started acting up by not restarting until pressure would drop real low. I checked the obvious, no luck, so we finished a two week charter with the back up DC shurflo by juggling water demands like not running the washer while guests took showers...
Called headhunter... I didn't have to press 2 for English and the tech guy said it was a typical switch failure. They could either sell me a replacement ($100 or so) or replace the whole pump at half price ($550). At 9 years replacing the whole thing was a no brainer so the next day I took it to their FTL place for the swap and had a nice surprise... They didn't need to keep the old pump, they just needed to peel the SN sticker and i could keep it for spare parts...
Nice...
