That looks like Ford island in the background, nice.

How many well protected marinas exist in Hawaii. We were over there recently and no matter where we looked we thought the protection afforded by the marinas was lacking.

Honolulu is well protected

Beautiful! We're moving to Honolulu in June! Wish I could take our boat with us -- it's currently in contract, which is bitter sweet. But we've been scoping out marinas in HI. What marina is that?

It's the Navy Marina at Pearl Harbor. Picture was from the 604 club they have the best Bloody Mary.

Waikiki Yacht Club is pretty good too. Cheapest nice meal I ate while I was there. Great Mahi.

Sounds great. Can't wait to check them both out.

That's a pearl of wisdom.

Other than that little misunderstanding with the Japanese a few years back.
From what i hear the Japanese own a big portion of it now. They purchased it with Datsun , Honda and nikee american dollars.
Did not have to fire a shot.
The US Navy sure learned one thing not to group all your ships close together i thought. Till i went up the James river and saw all those ships tied side by side.
I know they are pickled but i understood they could be put in service if necessary. You think you got a big boat ride around those monsters if you have never seen them
on your way north or south take a side trip up the river off the icw.

Tim,

Been there several times, once by flying around it in a friends twin engine Skymaster pretending we were strafing them with machine gun fire.

It is a creepy, lonely place! I think the Navy has been slowly scrapping them.

If you want fish go to Nico's Pier 38

Just don't go at lunch time during the week because all the local workers go there also busy but that tells you its the place you want to eat at.
