- OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
- Hatteras Model
- 41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
Well, one of the three Hatts on Lake Lanier went partially down in the last few days. Thankfully, not mine.
She may be a rescue opportunity if any of you happen to know someone in the market for a classic project.
The owner says she's a 40, but I think actually a 38DC as she was built in '67. He says it's got twin natural cats for power though I'm not sure what model...claimed they were "6130"...I'm thinking 3160's and an 8kw Onan genset.
I haven't seen her yet, but I'm told she's down in the back and resting on the bottom. Sounds like the ER is partially, if not fully submerged.
The owner is down on his luck, can't afford to raise her and offered the boat in exchange for pay. We (I work for the salvage company) don't have any use for her, but would be happy to raise her and take her to a lift for the cost of the salvage to get her out of the lake.
There are a few yards that can block her for staging before transport, or she can be put directly on a trailer, though I'm told she has a flybridge that has to be removed....wouldn't that make her a 41?
If you know of anyone that might have any interest, PM me. I should have photos in a day or so, and may be able to get a look at her personally on Sunday.
Thinking of starting an "adopt-a-hat" no kill web site......
