  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' MOTOR YACHT-Series I (1977 - 1980)
She's a head turner! I can't wait to see her at FLIBS.

She is a nice looking yacht, but to be perfectly candid, the ones from back in the day still have more class.

Exhibit A:

It's stupid looking!! The size of the hull is out of proportion with the superstructure

Round port hole in front rectangular ones midships and that step down midships on the toe rail look like an afterthought F-UP

Very Brunswick if you ask me.

Some exes nephew got his first design built.

Forward part of hull is a bit high but should provide a nice dry ride though,

Aft deck looks ridiculously small for a 100 footer, same with swim platform. Not a lot of space at the bow either.

With what looks to be a 25' freeboard, I would certainly hope so. Looks like the big sister of that Cargile Cutter that was posted the other day.

If I were spending that much money, I'd at least want a hardtop that has lines that go along with the rest of the damn thing.

I think maybe the angle of the photo just exaggerates the flaws. :D

I've seen the boat a couple of times as it passed our house on the Neuse. We sit up on a little bluff so have a pretty nice view. It generally looks much better than that photo, bearing a fair resemblance to a lot of the more conservative large RP yachts; aesthetically I have never been a big fan of those "slit" pilothouse windows that from the exterior makes it look like it is for midgets. The flying bridge is very large. I agree with Pascal on modern big boats in general, the lack of living space that is outdoor oriented, especially the aft/fore decks is unappealing to me. The buyers of those kinds of boats seemingly are mostly focussed on the interior, looking for the biggest floating condo.

A real head turner! Turn away, that is. It looks like one ugly ass boat in the pic, though it may be better in person.
As far as the outdoor living spaces traded for more interior, I have a news flash for you.........most people don't live in Florida! Most places people go boating, it gets cold and miserable outside part, or most, of the year.

It gets miserable in Florida too. Its just that someone spending a few mil on boat like that won't worry about an extra 5 gallons of diesel for the genny and ac.

I can but will not live without ac on my boat. When its hot in the afternoon im in the water or inside in ac.

sitting on the deck when its 90 in the shade is not fun.

looks to me like a space craft landed on a good looking hull.........the lines on the hull look great , the top leaves much to be desired. the lines just don't seem right with the hull.... all them windows look like a bitch to keep clean, but a 100' boat comes with a window boy/ captain/bar tender ect....

Their may be cope rite infringements

The idiots running Hatteras have lost their minds. They seem to want to compete with the european builders with the ugly designs. These mega yachts that look like ET's mother ship are not what made Hatteras what it was. People who own these things are not the type that want to sit in the sun or go swimming anywhere but in a swimming pool, they want interior show pieces to impress everyone. It's not about boating to them. If the boat move more than a few miles they don't even make the cruise, they fly. To me there is no class at all in that thing. I said it when Brunswick to over Hatteras that is was the end of an era, seems like they proved my prediction correct. (groan)
