Hatteras Docks

The wife and I went out on the river in New Bern today. I took her up to Hatteras by the way of water since she has never been that way. In old days, all of the docks would have Hat's being finished up there. Today I only saw seven. It breaks my heart since I have grown up with them around all my life. Hopefully there will be a rebound someday.

Contrary to the comments on this website, the US economy has been broken for a while, longer than our current President has been in office. It will rebound. A start would be getting back some of the jobs that BUSH watched go to other countries so his buddies continued to get richer.

If a US boat builder is faced with costly government mandates and regulations, how can he be expected to compete with a boat builder, say in China, that has no such expenses to add to the cost of his product?

and, the US is now approaching debt equal to the total annual GDP, virtually "underwater" as the mortage co's say, and getting worse by the day, present admin just ignores it all, after all, we all became rich by being in debt more than we earn. Pity for Hatteras and the rest of builders, it's the unemployed who are really hurting and until they get "real" productive jobs, it will just get worse, Greece is the perfect example of socialism destroying innovation.

The 401K tanked around the time the congress went under extreme dumocrat control. banking and home prices were the direct result of "every one needs to be able to buy a home even if they can't afford it from Slik willy.

Regan screwed us with total deregulation allowing corporations to become robber barons and airlines to become the flying greyhiound.

W was to stupid to really do much. He did allow the treehuggers to make it harder for business to survive in the US though.

Last Mothers Day, I called 1-800 Flowers to place an order. The company is located on long Island in NY. The person I spoke with, that i couldn't understand was somewhere in Asia. THAT is a lot of our economic problem. I no longer do business with them.

We do think alot alike.

No reason that a US business should outsource anything if the do not sell the product in that country. there should be penalties for that.

If you really want to have fun, try running an independent pharmacy, 5 years after the FTC thought it would be a good idea for CVS to buy Caremark prescription insurance. I've lost 15 customers in March alone who have Caremark insurance and have been told that they can only fill their prescriptions through the mail (unless, of course it would be more convenient for them to pick it up at their neighborhood CVS).

I had one woman who transferred her business to us from CVS in late December due to the crappy service she received there. She came in for her third refill in March, and up on our computer pops "Rejected. Have customer call CVS/Caremark. Refills not available at your pharmacy." Basically they told her that no matter how badly she was treated at CVS, she had no choice. Sorta like saying, "now you just march back into CVS and spend your money there, where you should, young lady".

There's nothing quite like a govenment sanctioned verticle monopoly.

IHAVE A DAUGHTER TRYING TO GET INTO DUKE UNIVERSITY HER GRADE POINT AVERAGE IS 3.98 . FROM A VERY GOOD UNIVERSITY.SHE IS BEHIND OTHER STUDENTS FROM OTHER UNIVERSITYS THAT ARE HERE ON STUDENT VISAS.(IMPORTS) WE ARE GOING TO EDUCATE THEM AND THEY ARE GOING BACK TO THEIR HOME COUNTRY AND GUESS WHAT USE WHAT THEY HAVE LURNED TO BEAT US AT OUR OWN GAME.
