Hatteras 70 & 90 Motor Yachts

On the Hatteras Yachts web site they have drawings of the New 90 Motoryacht and they also have some running shots of the New 70 MY. The interior gallery is still drawings but they do have some exterior photos up. They have a Port Side running shot that I think they need to replace or photoshop though. From the looks of the picture it would appear the this new design is a very WET Boat. The seas look pretty normal to calm yet the upper forward windows at nearly bridge height are covered with Dried Salt Spray. To me that's not very good marketing. It screams look at us we forgot to wash the boat before the photo shoot, or worse, when heading to sea in you new Hatteras MY don't forget your snorkle.

Other then that, even though I like more traditional designs, I think it's a good looking boat.

My 56MY was about as wet a boat as there could be. The only drawback to us was it made the foredeck bench less usable in any seaway.

Was just on Hatteras Yachts web site and they have updated pictures of the New 70MY. I hate to be negative and I know everyone has different tastes but the interior woodwork and decor is bad, very bad in my opinion, it's Gray. Looks more like a New York City Loft apartment decor more then that of a yacht.

On the positive side, I think the exterior has a nice balance of modern yacht without looking to Euro and the layout is great, with Big open Country Kitchen with a raised ceiling and skylights, 4 Staterooms and private Crew Quarters. The layout is great, but if I had the money and was buying a 70 MY I couldn't/wouldn't buy this one. The interior is not a yacht interior to me. I understand taking a chance to make it different and have it stand out from everything else on the market but If your building a Hull #1, to try to sell orders off of it, make it a more universal decor so it will appeal to a bigger audience. One of the Kardashians, Hip Hop Star, "Same Thing", or even Tubbs & Crocket may like it but not most potential buyers.

I'm not trying to knock it, it's a beautiful yacht, I just think, and it's only my opinion, that they missed the mark with the interior woodwork and decor choice.

The 60MY and 63/70 GT's on the website have more Yacht like interiors then this 70MY.

I toured the new 70MY at FLIBS. I was told that the boat on display was hull#1 and customer owned and spec'd. It had a layout and décor that was heavy on the Euro side (lots of gray) and oak floors I believe. I was told that it was not representative of what the production boats will be. I believe that hulls 2 and 3 are in build. Also, there was no lower helm, even though the layout suggests a pilot house. Very little of it was to my taste, but maybe I am locked into the past. I have been on an older 70 and it seems that the new boats just don't utilize the space as well as the older models. I guess that I'm just an aft cabin kind of guy.
