Hatteras 58 YachtFisher Aft Door Lock

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a 1979 Hatteras 58 YachtFisher and have been doing some modifications to fit my needs.

One thing on my list is to replace the current Aft Door Lock from a skeleton key to a normal keyed system. Has anyone done this, or thought about it. If anyone has a system that they used or any ideas on how to do this that would be greatly appriciated.

My house and my boat use the same key, Aft salon door only. Most dead bolts will work.

Sam’s carries the replacement lock system if that’s what you’re trying to do. Your lock is probably very similar to mine since we have the same year. I have parts that I could give you if you needed to fix yours. Is it possible you can add some photos to this and I’ll let you know. If you can’t you can text them to me at 650-619-2308. I keep my 53 up in the Delta.

Merit metal makes the lock on my 1979 53’ Sportfish salon door. Very heavy, well made lock. The original lasted 40 years.
