I'm looking for and at Hatt 36s First Series. She'll be used for light inshore/Bay fishing and mostly cruising. I'd really like to hear fuel burn numbers at displacement speeds and planing speeds. Thanks.

We had a 1975 36C with Cat 3208 260hp. At hull speed, we averaged 1.5 mpg.

We did a 600 mile trip to Lake Michigan and averaged 1 mpg. running all speeds.

More or less, at a cruise speed that the engines like, I get about 1.25 nmpg, as near as I can determine. This with Cummins 370s, and cruising at about 2200 revs, which is about 20-21 kts.

Every time I think about getting a larger boat, all I have to do is wash the one I have (36 Series I), and I realize she's plenty big enough.

I have 330B's with flowscans and I see around 2.5 NMPG @7 kts and .85 @ 22kts. The .85 seems poor in that many other boats with like power get 1.0 or better at cruise. Jim, can I ask what props you're running and gear ratio?

I am running 1.5:1 ZFs; I'll have to try to dig out the last tuneup on the props. I can find out from Black Dog Props if I can't track the paperwork down.

Sold a 36 series 1 with 3208n and she did not 16 kts at just over 1 mpg. I thought that was pretty good.

Thanks Jim, my props started out as 22X22 four blades but were cut down to 21.5X20 to make sure she reached rated++ rpm at full Bahama load. My boat is a little on the heavy side with a 9kw/sound shield, stone countertops, ice machine, etc. I see 23.5 kts@2600 rpm =.85nmpg.

Were you able to get it? I am searching for same so need some guidance about condition and price range. Please help:cool:

I've only looked at one recently. There aren't a lot on the market right now. From the internet stuff, and based on the very few I've seen over the years, condition depends on the owner (of course)--they're approx. 40 year old boats at this point. There's a thread on here recently about a potential sale of a 36 in California--good read on price, condition, things to look for. Good luck.

What a difference a year makes. There were tons of good older Hatts out there over the past few years. Seems like most of the good ones have sold over the last year or so. A lot of what's out there seems to be the tired and/or overpriced ones that have been on the market for a while. Be patient, good ones will still come up but if priced right, they're not taking nearly as long to sell as they were before.
