  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
At the Cambridge Yacht Club in Cambridge, MD on the Chesapeake Bay. 3 53' Motor Yachts, on 53' Yacht fish & a 46' Convertible arrived today. Expect 8 more on Thursday. Everyone is welcome to come by if you can make it.

Tom, sorry we can't make it. We have our SIYC annual meeting, and I need to be there. Maybe next year.
Thanks, Bob K

The Hatteras Yachts that have arrived at the Cambridge Yacht Club are Size Matters, 53’ MY, Mad Hatteras, 53’MY, Miles Away, 53’MY, Ariel, 53 MY, Tirija II, 53’Yachtfish and SEA 21, 46’ Convertible. After a spirited cocktail hour oon board Miles Away, the group walked thru part of the historical residential section of Cambridge to Gigi’s, an Italian Bistro in the restored Downtown area. The food was awesome and the dinner talk was a joy.
Thursday we are expecting 8 more Hatteras yachts plus a bunch of fly in/drive in attendees. Come on down if you can make it for the Cocktail Party at the club’s Tiki Bar Thursday afternoon or anytime Friday or Saturday. Sunday morning is always a great sight to see the Hatteras’ leave the event. There are plenty of hotel or bed & breakfast rooms available if you want to come down.

On Thursday the Hatteras’ continue to arrive: Bonnie Bett, 53’ MY, Mary L, 53’ ED, Mavereen, 53’ MY, Family Affair V, 54 MY and Kathryn E, 55’ Chris Craft MY & Cinderella, 53 MY.
At the Yacht Club’s Tiki Bar at 6:30pm we had an extended Cocktail party with Heavy hors d'oeuvres which constituted dinner for most of us. Opening event comments were made by the Fleet Commander who organized the event, John Gray and club Vice President Bill “Hoot” Houttekier. David Orem, Past Commodore of the Cambridge Yacht Club gave the club greetings to Cambridge. The talk of the party was the docking job in a strong wind by the Lady Owner of Cinderella. A contingent of 6 or 7 men were on hand to help with the lines along with 3 or 4 wives. The wives proudly watched as Cinderella carefully backed into her slip as the men watched in surprise and admiration. A good time was held by all as the partying lasted late into the night.
Friday at 9am Frank from Mid Shore Electronics will give a talk. At 10am, many of us will board a bus for a day trip to St Michaels

Rosenthal tells me he is going tomorrow. Perhaps he will snap a few.

Thanks, Sea 21, for those kind words. Has been a lovely time and we are looking forward to another wonderful day. This is an amazing group of folk.

Well another day of good times in Cambridge. Seven Lambs, 53’ Yachtfish arrived after taking on the rough bay on her trip north from the Norfolk area. The day started with a talk from Frank Daringer from Mid Shore Electronics about what was new and answering random questions from the attendees. Very interesting and helpful to all who attended. Afterwards, many of the attendees boarded a coach bus to St. Michael’s. Some toured the Waterman’s Museum & some shopped. Steve McPherson, owner of Sam’s Marine was convinced by two rather stout members of the club to skip all of that. Instead we found a waterfront table at the Crab Claw Restaurant, ordered a pitcher of Bud Light, (hey, we’re watching out waist lines) and ordered Jumbo Streamed Maryland blue crabs. Over a period of time the thinner members of the group joined us at the Crab Claw for lunch.
Friday evening the group walked two blocks to Snapper’s Restaurant for lots and lots of drinks and a very good dinner. Another great day ended with many of us gathered on one of the 53s to hear jokes and have after dinner cocktails.

I drove down to Cambridge for dinner with the 15-10 folks today. Very enjoyable event- got to say hi to Steve McPherson who I haven't seen since Hatteras still had a plant in High Point! Also shot several photos which I will begin posting tomorrow in my usual chaotic fashion.

The Cambridge Yacht Club is a beautiful facility. Those transiting up the Bay or in the area should give serious thought to visiting and supporting their efforts. Food was fine; altogether a very pleasant occasion and a chance to connect with a few old friends and several new ones.

It is gratifying to see how many of these older boats are so well taken care of and beautifully maintained. Also respects must be given to Scott Culver who brought his 57' Chris-Craft Connie; this boat is an alumnus of the Classic Yacht Club and breathtakingly beautiful as well as highly original. AND Scott has a Hatteras as well! A man of good taste who doesn't mind constantly maintaining boats.....

Check back tomorrow for photos, I have a busy day Sunday but I will get some put up...thanks to all for the hospitality especially since I attended by land yacht.

Ok, here goes: they had to be downsized to medium so the fidelity may not be as good as I'd like...
