  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
The optional days started off with a bang today. Miles Away, Bonnie Bet, Size Matters & Serenity all 53 Classics are here. SEA 21, a 1974 46' Convertible is hear also. Earlier today a beautiful redone 42' Convertible stopped by for a while.

Tonight, almost everyone boarded SEA 21 because it could get under the fixed bridges in Washington. There was a cocktail party at the dock from 5:30 until 7PM. Then we left the dock and motored up the Potomac. We passed Old Town Alexandria, Bolling AFB, National Airport up to the Anacostia River. We went by the Washington Channel, Coast Guard Headquarters, The Marine Helecopters for the President, past the new Washington Naionals ballpark and the Washington Navy Yard. Back to the Potomac and up past the Jefferson Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, The Capitol, The Washington Monument, under Memorial Bridge to the Kennedy Center, Washington Harbor and then Georgetown. We then made the trip back down the Potomac to National Harbor and the Marina. We had 17 people on board. We arrived back at the dock at around 10pm. An absolutely perfect evening with Hatteras Owners.

The adventure continues tomorrow.

Wednesday the folks who drove in carpooled everone to the METRO station 10 minutes away. From there we went to the White House & the White House Visitors Center. We then walked a block and had a lunch at the Ronald Reagan Building!!! As we left, we say a section of the old Berlin Wall. Back on the METRO we went to the Library of Congress & then the Capitol and sat in the House of Representatives gallery and saw a good exchange between the two sides. At this point, some got on the METRO back to the cars and the others set off on foot. They eventually made it back to National Harbor.

Thursday, We had the Official Opening Cocktail Party. Of course for some of us, it was our third of the trip! We had about 45 in attendance including Mike Price from SAM's N.C. office and his beautiful wife, Diane. SAM's has been a BIG supporter of the club. We had covered dishes from those on the boats. About 40 went to a Chesapeake Bay Crab Feast on site under a big tent. Of course this was a big hit.

We had Serenity, Size Matters & Mauroreen, all 53' Classics come in. Also Tirija II, a 53' Yachtfish.

The First Mate and myself just returned to home port on our boat, "Size Matters" from the 2009 annual 1510 club national rendezvous. We were also cruising with fellow members Dan and Trish and their Hatteras, "Serenity.
What a class act! Tom and Phyliss, the Fleet Captains went above and beyond to make this a great get together. Tina and I had hosted a previous rendezvous and are familiar with what it takes to pull one of these off. Thanks Tom and Phyliss! For those of you that are interested, next years will be held in St Michaels the same weekend as always. Stay tuned for more details. As for the club, the good news is the membership dues has been lowered to $125.00 per year and no additional initiation fee. Be sure and check out the website for new pics as they are posted and more details about the 2010 rendezvous.

What a great time Trish and I had with this great group of people. Lots of information from other owners from their trials and tribulations as owners of these 53' Hats. We had a great trip back from Point Lookout Marina on the Potomac to Baltimore,MD. Barely had to turn the wheel, the waters were that calm. Sorry to Size Matters for throwing him under the bus several times with the sail boaters LOL..
Anyway, like Ben said, if you are not members of the 1510 club, You should be.!
The Fleet Captains did a fantastic job in keeping us in cold drinks the entire trip, Thanks again to Tom and Phyllis!!!
