Ok, from another post where I was looking for a list of spares, the thread began to unravel from a discussion on spares to postol packin and gun totin.

Who carries weopans to the Bahamas and who has been in a position where they "had" to unlock the safey on them, and what were the circumstances?

(Watch this one will unravel into a list of spares....(grin))

You need spare ammo!

I lost all my guns and ammo in a horrific boating accident.

Shoot twice. Measure once!

I carry even in the safest of locations.

We had one occurance in NYC going around Hell Gate towards L.I.S. when I was wishing I had a carry. A gang of men in a small boat feigning distress that moved on us when we slowed down. I hammered the throttles and moved on.

Other than that, I believe Americans are left alone in the Bahamas because they know we carry.
The first time we crossed and stopped in at West End, I had a 308, a stainless 12g, a 45 and a 38. The agent that looked over the the application looked me in the eye, and asked "Four?", I said yes. He went on through the papers and reiterated the challenge. This went on at least one more time when he asked if I was going to start a war. I said, again, we are traveling from NYS, I did not want to leave them unattended at home. Is this going to be a problem? He said no, stamped all the papers and that was the end of it.

Would I carry there? Yes.

Especially given what is going on after the storms and COVID.

15 years spending a lot of time in the Exumas and never felt I need to carry. Never had the need either, ever

Just not worth the hassle. Now maybe down island or mehico or other “shot” holes ... maybe. Bahamas? Not needed

"Those best prepared for battle, never need to fight". Stainless Steel Mossberg Mariner 12 Ga.

KelTec Sub2000 stays on the boat. Lots of plastic and very compact.

I used to always carry my stainless S&W 9mm for fishing purposes, or otherwise.

Remington 870. Plus 38, 9, and 2 AR's. Don't need all that but don't leave at home unattended. Crossed from Key west to Marco years ago in the worst wind. A story in itself. Anyway since we were the only ones to cross that day a plane spotted us and we gut a customs visit. They could not have been more professional and I declared everything on board. ZERO issues.

Like others on here, all my firearms were lost in a boating accident.

ALWAYS carry!! Even get to the airport an extra hour early to tote one/some.

Re: Guns - Who is carrying? - Need help clearing the bow rail.

With the way things are going lately, I was thinking of mounting one of these on my deck. I can't seem to get the right mounting height and I'm worried that I"ll take the bow pulpit off the boat by accident. Are the bow pulpits still available from Sams (just in case)?

PS. I was thinking of connecting that 1919 to the HVAC seawater pump so that I don't overheat the barrel. While I'm at it, I think I'll connect this to the searchlight joystick control. Any other ideas????

I’ve got a nice jeep mount for sale for that unit. Gets it over the rail and useful for AA.

Uniflite offered those as "optional equipment" back in the day ... as long as you worked for the US govt. ;)
