That swathboat IS a small island nation. :p

What is that boat even used for???? It looks crazy and I can't really figure out it's true purpose. That being saidif the price is correct for $180K I want one. That seems very cheap, almost looks like you could cut it up for scrap and get your $180K back. If it's in good shape, wouldn't the Equipment, Motors and Gens be worth more all alone?

What is it used for?, Oh, sorry, I think I asked that already. But again whats it for?

Most of these surplus military boats have restrictions as to how and what you can use them for.
My Dad and some investors bought the Ex Presidential yacht Willamsburg back in the 70's. There was a restriction on that that it could never sail under its own power. They operated it as a restraunt on the Salem river in NJ hoping to bring it up to the new Penns landing in Philly for the bicentenial in '76.

My wife wouldn't like the common head with urinals and this thing is a maintenance nightmare.

Wonder what fuel consumption for nearly 7000 HP would be? Perhaps it is best that it is made into an island as 180000 could go right out the exhaust pipes in short order.

Cool boat, though.

Naw...just rig it with an outboard on either side and run at sub-trawler speed. :p

Not to sound dumb or to beat a dead horse but what is something like this used for? I saw that one article that said they used it to detect mines but it seemed like that was an after thought. I'm wondering what's intended design purpose was.

Cool video and seeing it in dry dock, you can understand why the draft is 11'. Looks like it could be better used for oil rig equip delivery and a helo platform. Be interesting to know what the thing cost new.

From the link that Bird provided:

"The 180-ton, 105-foot prototype Slice vessel cost nearly $15 million for research and development."
