  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Just finished up a great week on the boat, we are now almost finished with the major issues. We got the genny up and running , the last non working part is our windlass. We are going back on the 31st , hopefully this will be a simple fix. (chances are it will be hell just like all the others) Atleast I feel like we have made some great gains in getting her back to a sea worthy condition.

I am looking for a life raft 6 person , top of the line stuff , Any thoughts on what are the best or close to the top of the shelf. I have heard the Wilson is good . I want the very best, because if this item needs to be used, the real question is what is your LIFE worth ? AND if I ever sell my boat I am going to be at the top of the scale & the boat will sell it's self.

I think you mean Winslow, not Wilson. Good reputation, no direct experience as in I have never seen one.

Top of the line brands include Viking (big in the commercial market), Switlik. I have an Avon, but am not sure if they still market these in the US. Where in Florida are you?

Yes, it's Winslow and I can't overstate how much I like the company and the product. Although I've never had the "pleasure" of using mine (and hopefully never will) their reputation and support is phenomenal.

Also, I bought mine at a boat show, but they did offer a "Hatteras" discount. Dunno if that was just a hook, but they took something off the price because it was going on a Hatteras. I have an 8 person raft and it's only about 45 lbs. 3 yr recertification for the vacuum packed valise. As you said, not cheap, but in a situation where you need it I promise you'd write a check in a heartbeat for a ride home.

Winslow is right, I live in Ft. Myers & my boat is in Warwick RI.

Your right in the time of need any price would do ! Same thing with a gun . Rather have it & not need it than need it & not have it !!!!!

Good guys to talk to about this are LRSE over in Tiverton. When we kept the boat in Westport MA they were helpful and good to do business with. Coincidentally, we are currently spending the week, sans boat, down the road from them in Little Compton.
