Just got home from the coast I have a small house North of Beauford NC. We have had the house for about 18 years it is at Harkers Island N.C. I have never seen the watter as high it did not cover our little island but it was more watter than i have ever seen. I was at the beach house through all the storm for the past 15 to 16 years. It use to be kinda fun and lots of work now i wish them away.Anyway you guys north of Virginia Beach tighten up if what we got was a warning and the storm or center was about 250 miles off shore of us there is a lot of watter heading your way. Our tide was high when it hit along with a full moon. My skiff was on the trailor in the yard tied down and it floated a little trailor and boat. The dock was covered with watter about 1 foot over the dock usually at a mean high tide on full moon the dock is about 3 feet above the watter. We have a concrete table on the dock a round one the wind shifted the top a little gust were per the wind meter max (it is one which leaves a mark at max) 82 mph the thing could be off but it ison a telephone pole about 40 feet in the air along with the vhf antenna which is still there. The genorator never came on we had electricity all the way through the thing. The news boys are not overplaying this one there is not 100 plus mph winds but a heck of a lot of watter rain and flood.
Anyway just a little information.... Put you big anchor out !!!!!!
Good luck guys we are over the worst here as a matter of fact when i left wind was max at 30 to 35 mph gust still blowing but no where as bad as it was ......
