Genset injectors

I think I may have an injector that's not right in one of my gens. Can I use an IR thermometer or is it better to just to crack the line and see if the rpm drops. This is actually a continuation of an old thread. If I load up my gen it loses rpm at the rate of about 1 hz per 10 amps of load....................Pat

I'd just crack the nut and wrap a rag around it. Be careful when working around an operating diesel with a potential (or intentional) fuel leak - the pressure of the fuel can cause it to be "injected" under the skin under some circumstances which can cause a REALLY NASTY infection.
