Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Just got back from an excellent afternoon/evening cruise aboard my brother in law's Gulfstar 43 MY. It has a new 8kw generator (Northern lights?) The oil pressure gauge swung over and pegged at 80psi. It usually stays at 45 psi. No alarm or any other indication of a problem.

Had a wonderful time, and nothing failed, much less exploded. But the gauge was still pegged when we docked.
Any thought on this?
Thanks for your comments.

If it's fed directly with oil from the engine or if electric, it sounds like it's had the biscuit so to speak, Staying pegged over on shutdown would indicate that it's probably electric and may have an incorrect wiring issue. Install new one after checking the wiring set up if problem exists.
