Generator not taking a load?

Our Onan generator starts great & runs just fine, when I move the selector switch from shore power through the OFF space to generator nothing happens no power to the lights or outlets?
When I go back to shore power everything comes back on.

Any ideas..........

Are there breakers on the genset itself for electricl output?

checklist might begin with: is the gen producing power to the breaker on the unit? If so, do you have power to the breaker near the selector? Are all of the breakers and source selections made properly to get power to the selector?
If all that seems correct, perhaps your selector is bad? I never switch a selector with any power running through it. just turn breakers on after selecting the source.

Did this problem suddenly occur? IOW, had the Genny been working OK/providing power recently? Any recent work been done on the unit/ system?

As the previous posters noted, there a probably a breaker(s) somewhere on the Genny itself. On our Northern Lights Genny I have accidentally brushed that breaker switch when working nearby, shutting off the generating capability. The first time that happened, I was trying to figure out for an hour why the generator wasn't producing any power until I noticed the breaker and saw that it was "off."

Start at the gen and work to panel checking voltage.Check fuses and breaker for power at gen first.also what brand.

Likely a breaker on the generator inside the shield and another breaker in ER.
