Onan generator has an issue
E with main fuel filter blowing bubbles then when the fuel runs down stops running.

Used a rebuilt filter kit didn’t help.
Any suggestions

It runs fine until it runs out of fuel I the filter.

Can you see where the bubbles are coming from? My bowl had a leak at the drain on the bottom. I replaced the bowl and it fixed the issue. Diesels will not run with any air in the lines as you may already know.

That’s was my thought. Thought about replacing the whole unit for safety reasons.

Does the Onan have an onboard secondary fuel filter?... or are you saying you can see bubbles in the primary Racor filter?

If it's the primary Racor filter ... it could be the gasket and/or o-ring on the filer cap... or it could be a fuel line from the tank.

Try running the generator from a jug to isolate the fuel line.

Going to try the jug theory first thing in the morning. Either that or replace the whole unit. Will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for the information.

I kept this article from a1 998 Motor Boating and sailing : " If bubbles rise up through the bowl, the petcock is leaking . Should the bubbles circulate from the intake down across the turbine area, there is a leak between the fuel tank and the filter ". I hope this helps.
