  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' CONVERTIBLE (1987 - 1990)
Well after that dog fight with the steering helm it seems I've introduced another issue (2 actually). The engines roll right over.
However, Temp, Volts, op and gear pressure are dead with the engines running. And ordinarily with the engines off, as soon
you turned the keys to on, they would activate. Now when I turn the key I get a slight bounce on the voltmeter and then nothing.
They're all dead.

I went hunting for a bad crimp or a pulled or dropped connector, but the Hatt wiring is still pretty good. But of course there could be some corrosion
somewhere. With both port and starboard exhibiting the same issue, I'm guessing a floating ground or power lead. I don't think its a fuse although
if there is one Id like to check.

Luckily I have all the schematics. But after tracing to the first terminal block I get lost. And I cant figure out where the voltage
source is to trace the other way.

Doses anyone know where the voltage for the gauges originates? This is a 1989 48 Convertible. TIA

Rite close to where you were working, there is a bad wire connection. Give all a light tug. It will be in your hand quickly.

I had the same exact thing happened to me until I realized that I had turned the keys off even though the motors were running. User error on my end.

pretty sure there is an inline fuse up there somewhere that may have blown. Friend had same issue and found a blown fuse on his 70.

Just a thought, one of those hand held wands that glow or beep when next to a hot wire might help.
I don't know if they work on low voltage or not. Just a thought, and good luck, I have some flakey gauges too. Work, then don't work LOL.

Hope you solve it quickly!

Bob, when I was looking at your boat I recall they were fixing the gauges and it was because of blown fuses. Onekama got them working. Might have happened again. My gauges are not working either on the upper or lower helm so believe I have the same problem. Just need to find the fuses.

Interesting! I will have to find them. I wouldn't think fuses should keep blowing though??
Thanks for the info, maybe if I can find the fuses LOL

Good luck and keep us updated.

Bob, that is the second part of the problem. You are correct. The fuse may be on 32 volt transformers. I am going to look around on my boat this weekend.

I checked my fuses this weekend on the 32v to 12 v transformers and all are in order. So my problem is something else keeping all gauges from working. Looking for ideas too on what could be the cause.
