Does anyone happen to have a GalleyMaid BBHW-24 Anchor windlass manual?
Or can explain how to adjust the clutch.

The clutch is slipping ie letting the chain out when I try to set it and same when retrieving it.
No, I don't use the windlass to pull boat to anchor, I use boat to pull up to anchor then retrieve it.

Example-
Drop anchor, let out some chain, drift back, let more chain out.
then add some reverse and the windlass will free spool about 25-50 ft before it catches

On my galley maid windlass the top nut on the windlass adjusts the clutch. The nut has two holes opposite each other that fits a spanner wrench. The wrench is just a flat bar with 2 pins on one end that fit into the holes on the nut. I had my boat for quite a while wondering what this bar was for. Insert the pins in the holes and turn clockwise to tighten the clutch. Good luck.

Mine looks a little differnt. I'll post pics tomorrow
Thanks

Tightening the top nut may or may not help much. These things have a clutch that wants to slip. One fix is to add a piece of fine Emory cloth to the clutch surface. Remember the design has a flaw.... if you continue to over tighten that nut, you will be drawing the shaft up, and not getting much more pressure on the clutch. Crappy design IMHO.
