  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Last time I brought up the anchor, the windlass stopped working. No up, no down. And, it was not under any strain other than the weight of the anchor as it was coming up. I've had the boat about 18 months and have used the anchoring system at least a dozen times with no problems until this one event.

I haven't had time to troubleshoot it yet (this weekends project).

I didn't see any related breaker in the pilothouse panel. I looked at the blue prints some time ago and think I remember seeing that the control box gets its power directly from the 32vdc battery bank.

Can anyone advise as to where another main breaker might be located? This is on a 1978, 53' YF. Is it possibly one of those large ceramic fuses on the engine room bulkhead?

Thanks.

Tim

on mine, power goes straight from the port battery bank to the control box in the anchor locker. The box has the relays and a CB on the side. check that first. I also have a batt switch near the battery bank to disconnect the windlass.

if you dont' have power there, at the breaker, then trace the wiring to the battery, you may have a fuse, or CB near the battery.

if you have power at the control box, try bypassing the switch, relays, etc... to isolate the problem

My 1977 58YF has a breaker box for the windlass on the forward bulkhead of the starboard engine room, just inside of the companionway door.

Look in the box that has the battery switches. There should be a fuse there.

In this photo there are the big fuses on the upper left.

There is also a breaker on the relay box in the anchor locker.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll report Tuesday on what I find.
