  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but what is required to connect a standard faucet line (like you get with a kitchen faucet from Home Depot) to the copper lines in the boat? I have two female copper lines, one for hot, one for cold. When I stopped them up, I used a 1/2" brass plug, that fit perfectly.

Take said plug to your discount house of home improvement worship. Pick a faucet. Then find the retired plumber that works the department and say: I need to get from here to here. Works all the time.

I used the braided SS lines and a shutoff valve. I redid all my plumbing with pex and if I remember correctly the original fittings are the flared type and I used an adapter, flared to straight threads while working on the pipes. I kept a bunch of the original fittings and tee’s etc for the places that I had to leave the copper 3/8 pipes.

If you can figure out what you have (probably 3/8 flare if original or pipe fitting if its been adapted), check out McMasterCarr.com. They have every fitting you could possibly need and will be good quality and price. Not picked over plastic bags hanging from pegs at Home Depot. They will also have it at your door the next day without paying stupid shipping charges.

I had a bunch if 1/2 flairs. And you can’t typically adapt 1/2 as they have the connection requires that you flare pipe (not fun). It can take a 1/2 to 1/2 to pipe adapter, reducer to compression fittings. After redoing all the faucets and about 400 of fittings, I wished I ran new lines with a shut off manifold.

You can get a 3/8" flare to 3/8" compression which is on your faucet lines. I would go to a hydraulic shop, they will fix you up quick. You will even be able to use the original Hatters flare. There may also be a Sharkbite fitting for 3/8" O.D. tube to 3/8" compression but I was never able to find one in a big box store.

I used brass street elbows, male flare to FPT, from Home Depot. Then a standard MPT valve. Modern faucets usually have their own supply lines. Quick and easy.

Thanks for the replies. it turned out to be easier than I thought. A 1/2" male flare to 1/2" male pipe, and a 1/2" pipe to 3/8" pipe shutoff valve. Two pieces each for hot and cold. With all the talk of flare versus compression and tubing versus pipe, I though it would be more complicated.
