A couple of months ago, I went to West Marine to order two replacement stators for my 110 Volt and 32 Volt water pumps. I believe they're the GM-10 model. I called Galley Maid first to get a price quote. They were $80+ per stator even before shipping costs. Pump Depot would sell them to me for $73 plus shipping and West Marine would order them as a special order for $69.99, no shipping.
After waiting a week and a half, the parts still hadn't come in. I received a call from the manager of the store and was told that West Marine was no longer able to get this part from Galley Maid. I told her that their system brought up the SKU and price and they already took my money and I could have gotten it elsewhere by this point. She told me to call customer service in California (a toll free number) and let them know what happened. I had the replacement stators in the local West Marine store in about 3 days, but was told that West Marine would no longer be able to get these parts for me in the future.
I guess that Galley Maid is trying to keep its margins up by not selling to large chains for less than they can sell to other companies.
I know a stator is a wear item, so I'm sure that I will be replacing them again in the future. Any other places to get them "cheap"?
