Tim,
I have Atlantes Freedon toilets on my boat and I love them. The water in, water out and the macerater pump are built right in. You can time the flush from 10 to 16 seconds and they are super quiet.

Not to start a s$&t storm but vacu flush literally sucks. It needs a place for the vacuum pump and it needs to be in line with the tank. We had 2 guys go to school for it. I referred to it as potty training. From my limited experience with it the installation design is quite important.

FWIW I don't do s$&t or s$&ters. I'd rather work on a nice clean Detroit than detritus.

Tim, as you know I have the vacuum-flush. Very few problems, none I couldn't fix over the 13 yrs Ihave had her.

I have Theford Tecma heads. Really like them. No odors, no gloggs and they leave the bowl dry.

atlantes. if there is a problem it is only for ONE head, not the entire system. I like that redundancy and 32V. VacuFlush can have duckbill issues that cause you to lose lots of water and vacuum to the system. Headhunter is the quietest, but you need 24V. BUT with a clog the entire system is compromised. Atlantes is more quiet than GM, but not as quiet as Headhunter or vacu flush because of the macerator in each unit.

VACUFLUSH!! I have three separate systems running on fresh water. They use very little water and using fresh water minimizes odors.

In eight years of my ownership I lost one pump because someone (a boater) lost a paper towel down the system that eventually made it's way to a duck bill and that left the pump running continuously. The duck bills last a long time (eight or more years) if you treat them properly. Properly means no bleach, and insure that they pump completely out. We do this by giving the system a brief second flush if solids go in the bowl. I put a spare set of duckbills on the boat before a long cruise in 2010 and they are still there as spares.

The only other problem was a worn bowl seal.... due to use of cleanser to clean the bowl. No abrasives period.

Let the war continue.

This thread stinks!

This thread stinks!

Atlantes have it 14 years now 0 problems a vacuflush can't say that! All my friends have had a least one problem over that time period.

As for the stink they all stink week ago next to a boat with vacuflush :p and you can hook the Atlantes to fresh its your choice!

Vacuflush here. 9 years and changed duckbills once. Work fine.

I had four of the GM heads on my boat. I replaced them with four individual Vacuflush heads - each head has its own system pump, tank, water feed, etc. I've been getting away from "complete systems" over the years because I don't like having all my eggs in one basket which is why I made all four Vacuflush heads individual - none of them share any components except power, and even then, three of them run on a 12v dedicated battery with its own charger, and the fourth runs on the 32v. system. If I have battery issues, I still have a working head. I did the same thing with my air conditioning - no sharing of anything amongst the individual units which has been a real blessing. When I have to clean something, or replace a part, the whole boat isn't down.

Other than the time a guest flushed a tampon, I've never had any issues whatsoever with the Vacuflush over the past 6 or so years. You can install these yourself, as I did. I've heard of people talk about vacuum leaks, but I've never had one - not even upon turning it on right after installation.

I have no first hand experience with the Atlantes heads but I can say that every one I spoke to that has them loves them. Much easier and less expensive than Vacuflush.

Ang that is the right way to do it. Vacuflush does not recommend sharing critical components. I haven't looked into them in a while but I know it used to be very difficult to buy a complete system without using a Sealand authorized dealer and installer.

Very happy with vaccuflush heads. Far and away better than the GMs

Vacu-flush not one problem in 11 years.
