  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
My macerator pump from 2001 finally crapped out today. My attempts to free the pump failed after I finally overheated and fried what appears to be the internal solenoid. Does anyone know if the macerator pump alone can be replaced? I will be calling Galley Maid in the morning, just trying to get an idea of price and complexity of replacement. Thanks.

The hardest part is getting the hoses off. It is cheaper to get an exchange than to rebuild the old unit.

I'll have 3 used pumps for sale sometime this winter. I am replacing my GM's with the new Raritan Atlantes Freedom. I know is doesn't help you now, but I will post them here when they come out.

Well my wife has decided that a new unit with a quieter motor is the answer at this point, so I am looking for the best deal on a new toilet. Next question is on the 36C the toilet is on an elevated box and I am wondering what support is under this box for the new mount. Any help is appreciated. BTW, it looks like small lag screws are holding down the current GM.

Marine heads: the hottest new thing is supposed to be the Tecma, which is very quiet and has a very powerful macerator pump. I am going to look at one at the Annapolis Boat Show. (how do you test drive a head at the Boat show?) :D
I have also had good luck with Raritans- I have had two boats with Crown heads (noisy but reliable). Currently I have a ITT/Par/Jabsco which has held up fine over the years. Again, noisy but reliable.
The head in my 36C is mounted the same way. It hasn't moved so far. As long as the wood doesn't rot, it's probably fine. When it does, I guess either the head will fall over in a seaway, I'll fall through the floor, with the head, while using it. Hopefully, that won't happen. A whole new meaning to the word 'headache'.

Jim, We will be at the show on Thur. the 13th. I am thinking about taking the boat up, when are you going?
