I am trying to work on my galley maid head motor. I took the motor out of the boat and I have it on a bench at home. It seems to have three parts: the pump, the main motor and the discharge side which I am assuming is the macerator. There is a shaft that runs thru all of these. I am trying to remove the macerator part to put a new stator in.( I have been having difficulty with the head emptying and have found no clogs. I read somewhere that a new stator can cure this ) However I can not get it apart. From what I can see it looks like the blade inside is preventing me from pulling it apart. Any ways I have never worked on one of these before so any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris.

I can't remember for sure, but the blade may be reverse thread. You need to rap on it with a mallet first to break it loose and then it should unscrew. Someone else may remember if it is right hand or left hand thread.

Sky are you saying I need to reach in with a set of pliers and unscrew that blade from the shaft? Thanks for the response! Chris.

Yes, the blade unscrews.

As I recall, it's the intake side (the little end) that's reverse threaded - I learned that when I had to use a file to cut the threads back in because the die cut set I had went the other way. What a pain that was!

I just replaced mine.

You must remove the cover from the macerator side, six screws i recall,

Give it a good wrap! right on the macerator blade and then it will unscrew,

Mine came off no problem. the thread is clockwise, the blade is welded to the shaft so it will not come off, make sure the shaft has no burrs anywhere on it that could wear the replacement stator (hard rubber) - you can get em right from galley maid. The stator (rubber part) must be put back over the shaft using only water to slide it on.

Be careful when cleaning the shaft that the only material you remove is poo as the shaft size is critical in creating the pump suction within the stator

Happy poo removal

If you have any questions, just call Galley Maid, ask for Bernie or Ernie and they'll tell whata ever ya need to know.
