Hey all,
My diver notified me that my forward port strut bearing is coming out of housing & asked if I've been running boat at the dock. I have been doing usual start ups and once warmed up, clutch in fwd/rev a handful of times to work trans. Last time I ran in reverse a little longer (10min) in attempt to clear settlement under boat in slip (HVAC raw water system been clogging more during low tides). My ? is can this bearing be pushed back into housing & what issues will I expect until I haul out next time? I've not taken her out of slip for awhile (I know, I know!) & when I do, just keep her 1350rpms or less.

Thanks,

There should be set screws that hold it in. I usually countersink a hole so the set screws sink in. I’d worry about the bearing spinning in the strut eating the strut out.

RSmith,
Thanks for the info. After researching a bit more, I did find a maintenance picture as well referring to set screws. Possibly the screws backed out or corroded? I'll be home later this week & when my diver comes down, see if he can see if screws are still there to hunker down a bit if he can push bearing back in (seems will be a difficult task).
