  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
My Furuno Radar model 1940 started acting up today. When I stated it up the antena array does not rotate and I am getting a ¨NO BP¨ error message in the upper left part of the display. I checked the on/off switch in the back that controls the antena and it was in the ON position. I read the manual and did not find anything related to NO BP error messages. Any Ideas anyone?

"NO BP" means no Bearing Pulse is being sent. Might be a loose wire or bad connection. Might be something worse. I'm going to be pulling my still-functioning Model 40 out in a couple months and will be looking for a new home for it if you are interested. Price will be reasonable.

Thanks a lot for the info. I am going to open the scanner unit and check the connectors and hope that it is a bad connection. I went through very bad weather some weeks ago and since I installed the unit myself maybe something got moved around. Thanks again.

Also check the plug in the back of the CRT.

Caution, high voltage.....

I think the NO BP alarm may be your secondary problem. I think this error is common when your array is not turning. I think the first step would be to rectify the rotation problem, and then see if NO BP fault clears.

Don't know if this helps but we have Furuno FR-7062 and underway a month ago the screen showed "bearing signal missing". I took a look at the scanner and it wasn't turning. Upon arrival here in La Paz we had a Furuno tech open the scanner and it is going to be one of two things (after checking connections and breakers etc.) either the circuit board is in need of repair or replacement or the motor needs replacing. The tech took the circuit board for bench testing. If we put it on standby for a few minutes it would start up again and work for a few minutes. So we are hoping the motor is still good. Ross

I was at the boat today and opened the scaner casing I fond that in the motor control circuit board Mp-8070 two diodes theCR-705 and CR-701 are toast. I an calling Furuno to see if they sell the board. If the price is to high I will take it to a electonic shop. I did find a hilike strnd of cable that manged to mke contact betwen terminals 5 & 6 tlk about bd luck !.thanks everybody in the forum with out your help I wold not been able to inf the poblem.I will keep you all posted.

If you can get the diodes, and you are certain those are the issue, I would go that route. If you cannot find anyone to replace those, PM me and I will install them for you. I would hate to see you spend money on a new board when two diodes would likely cost you a couple of dollars with shipping.
