Does anybody know how far down the fuel pick ups go for the engines? Talking with the fuel polisher we came up with a theory. Obviously the engine fuel pickups go fairly deep so as to use as much fuel out of the tank as possible. I’m guessing the engine pickup is deeper than the generator pick up for obvious reasons. Our theory is the pickups for the engines go almost down to the bottom. The idea that we have is that allows for the most usable fuel, but also to keep the tanks as clean as possible by using the racors to filter out any contamination and water. Obviously there’s a sump in the tanks that’s a little deeper, maybe an 1” to 1 1/2”, then the bottom of the tank to allow a little water and gunk to settle. Any comments or verification of this theory?

on mine, the engine pickups were deeper than the gen.
there was no sump/low spot in the tank, just many glassed in baffles.

The big question is how far down to the engine pick ups go. Another words 1" from the bottom 1/2" from the bottom anybody know? There is definitely a sump in my tanks. It's about 1 1/2" deep.

They're not too hard to remove. Pull one and stick a dowel down the hole

You can also stick a tape measure down until it touches bottom, take a measurement. Then pull the tape measure back up against the side of the pickup tube until it hooks the bottom of the pickup tube and take that measurement, then subtract it from the full depth to determine how far it is off the bottom.

I asked Hatteras once and it was “varies” up to the guy that was cutting the tube. None of these boats were really built on a production line. A few things but with all the different models most of the stuff that didn’t come out of a mold is custom
