Who told you there was a manual fuel primer lever for the 453N??
There is a star-gear fuel pump and that is it.
No diaphragm lift pump.
When this pump is dry of fuel, it may not really want to pump up.
There may be an electric priming pump installed somewhere. Usually close to your primary fuel filters.
New boat?
