  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I have a 53' MY that will hold 550 gallons of fuel. Forward and aft tank hold 275 gallons each. Looking for some one with the same setup that has taken a stick measurement of their tanks to determine the fuel amount left onboard base on the depth of fuel level. Looking for data to give approx fuel amount onboard without have to go thru the process of recreating the wheel.

Thanks,

I don't have sticks, but years ago I ran out of fuel on my 50MY, the predecessor of your boat. Broken gauges. It's possible we have the same tanks. I have 302 gallons in the fwd. tank which feeds the generator, 285 gallons in the aft tank. Both engines stopped from no fuel, but I had stopped the generator after the first engine quit so don't know if its fill was lower or not. When I refilled in Nassau (accurate pump fuel counter?) I put 252 gallons in the foward tank meaning 50 gallons unusable. Aft tank took 274 gallons, 10 unusable. Fortunately have not had to check this since.

I can recommend Centroid Products fuel and water gauges <www.centroidproducts.com> which have no moving parts and use your original gauges.
