I can't seem to figure out this fuel leak. I have 871 TI's. It's showing up on the port engine inboard side. Dripping off the fresh water hose that comes out of block that goes to the manifold, (just below the valve cover corner, aft). It drips very little at cruise 1850, at 1950 2000 its leaking heavily. Is it possible that fuel could leak from valve cover, Aren't the injectors in there ?
thanks for any help.

PROBABLY the fuel pump - feel under it and see if you feel fuel. There is a weep hole there and a failing seal on the shaft will leak from that point. The fuel can travel quite a ways running along various surfaces.

Other possible culprits are in the plumbing fittings in the head and fuel pump and the hoses attached to them. Note that a fine spray of fuel can be airborne until it strikes a flat surface and then run down that.

You may want to check the oil in the engine leaking fuel. If you are over full, and it smells like diesel, your leak is under the valve cover.

Just a thought.

If you have a bad enough leak to be coming from the valve covers then you will be "making oil" bigtime.

Any time a Detroit does that (oil level goes UP!) you have BIG trouble. Fuel makes a poor machine lubricant and leads to really bad bearing damage in very short order.
