Go and see the new Hatteras 77' Sportfish. Stunning.....
And only holds 3000 gallons of diesel....
Show is pretty good, fair turnout today... Lots of things to look at...

It was indeed impressive. The only think I wasn't fond of was the crew arrangement. Through the ER, then through the crew head/shower, to a cave with only an emergency hatch as an alternative exit.
Probably not an issue for an owner, but I don't think it will be popular with captains. On the opposite side of the spectrum, I took Ang over to a 107' President. Granted, it's a huge boat, but the thought that went into the crew on that one was honorable. It's just outside of the ER, so the captain is close. 2 mates have over/under bunks and their own head. The captain has a private SR with a double and a head. They share a small galley/lounge area. All of this finished in wood, a little more spartan, but with the same class as the owner/guest accomodations. Now, THAT is a boat I would feel priveledged to crew on.
The fly-bridge ladder arrangement on that 77 struck me as precarious, until I discovered the staircase into the saloon! Nice touch there.
I actually liked the fly-bridge of the 68 better in terms of layout. The 68 had a great entertainment area in front of the helm.
We looked at the Hatt Motoryachts as well, and I was happy to see a real galley with a real oven on the 72. I also noted the lack of a lower station, and was told it was optional. What I really didn't like, was that beyond the saloon, everything was finished in padded vinyl. It looked, felt and smelled very Carver-ish, or Sea Ray-ish...name your production boat brand.... I guess it's a matter of taste, but I would like to have seen more wood, even some accents would be nice. I asked about this an got a "sales" answer...safety...it's softer if you're bumping into walls and things navigating the companionways. Oh yea, that's it! Why didn't I think of that?
They still appear to be built like tanks, so in that respect they are still building classics that should stand the test of time.
I would absolutely let them build a boat for me, but it would have to be a custom build based on what I saw at the show. More wood inside, a usable lower station, and a bigger aft-deck.
