Freshwater supply

I have recently acquired a 53C 1978. The water supply only works at the dock with water hose
connected. Pump does not come on. I expect to replace the pump and accummulator tank. I have yet to find the accumulator tank (if it exists). It does appear to have a pressure switch like on a well. Help please.

Is it the grey/green GalleyMaid pump with the accumulator tank mounted to it? If so, you can probably just rebuild the pump. Does it have power going to the switch and then through the switch to the motor? Have you lifted the lever on the pressure switch to prime it?

Did you get a survey? Was it listed as servicable then?

We need more info on this pump setup to help you.
How many fresh water pumps are there? What voltage? Are their outputs manifolded together? Are there Y valves on this manifold? How many pressure switches are there? Does the boat have dead batteries? Is it plugged into shore power? Is power getting to the pump(s)?
If the pump(s) run but there isn't water delivery the pickup tube in the tank may have rotted off.

And last but not least, IS THERE WATER IN THE TANK?

I'd check the voltage supply right at the pump first. There should be battery voltage or 120 ac depending on what's been installed. If there is power, maybe just the pressure switch is stuck/defective...If you have power, tap the pressure switch lightly with a screwdriver handle....If no power, find the circuit breaker and flip it back and forth a few times....see if it stays "on"...

Also, some pumps don't require accumulator tanks...I have had BAD luck with the PAR plastic tank. It leaked at the seal where the screws/bolts are located....I bought a larger steel tank and it's been trouble free...

I have not checked for voltage at the pump. The pump appears to be similar to a shallow well pump. I will check out further this weekend. Thanks

My 58 has the 32VDC GM pump and a 110 VAC shallow well pump. Evidently you need the generator to run the A.C. pump; does this mean the GM D.C. is DOA? I have not yet charged the FW system, and last summer the AC pump ran continuously with the the lever switch "on". I would guess the FW tank was empty. IDEAS? ws

Replaced pump and added new tank. Plenty of Fresh water.

Jet pump from ACE Hardware. Gould 5 gal bladder tank. I relocated ball valves to make more accessible. I will be redoing a lot of maintenance accessibility stuff over the next three -four months. I am removing the 12Vs and replacing with QSM 11 660s.

Interesting engine swap...I am looking forward to seeing performance data on this. The boat will be quite a bit lighter, although the power will be similar.
