  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
GM pump runs for 10-15 seconds then trips the breaker. Then I flip back on and it immediately trips again. Any ideals???

WHO YOU TRYING TO BULL YOU SMARTER THAN THAT PUMP OR BRAKER CHECK THE DRAW!! I just went through it with a 6 month old compressor i thought it was braker no no it was compressor...

Better the breaker trips than the pump burns up. Is the pressure up high?

Open the faucets and see if it runs long enough to check the amp draw.

Yes... Went through the same thing. Check the impeller and clean- lube or replace as necessary. Check that the pressure isn't exceeding 23-25 pounds too.

I actually went through these steps AND replaced the breaker... Still tripped... GM wound up rebuilding the pump motor for us. It's wonderful now. Their service was great, too.

Every DC and AC motor was bad when we bought Chartmaker... We're gaining on it though.

If the check valve sticks it will cause excessive pressure and trip the breaker

Pressure is way to high. It goes up to 55-60 before it turns off or trips breaker. I will adjust lower and see what happens. Have noticed that pressure will drop with no draw, which means a leak somewhere and then while pressuring the breaker flips. Would think with losing pressure, the GM pump would never cut off, but it does.Have other issues as well but need to solve this one first. Thanks for advice
