Maybe so, but I have always been told that it isn't a good policy to let the prop freewheel on Velvet drives or any other hydraulic tranny. The problem is lubrication for the gears and bearings in the aft portion of the unit. With the engine not running, the trans. oil pump isn't turning. The front half of the trans. isn't rotating, but the entire rear end is. There is no preassure lubrication available, so the only oil that gets to the bearings and reduction gears is splashed back there. It isn't a big deal to make a hardwood "gallows" to secure that shaft. Just bore a hole in apiece of hardwood the diameter of your shaft. Now saw through the wood at the center of the hole. Install a stud on each side of the hole. Put the device over your shaft with the extension of the wood laying against the hull. put wingnuts on the studs and tighten. This makes a simple prop lock and if you forget to remove it, you get a nice fragrance of burning wood.
