How rare is this. A new phone information service that actually works as advertised and is free (for now)...! (us elderly used to call it 'long distance information'). I have tried it and to my amazement it worked.
Dial: 1-800-goog411 aka 1-800-4664411
This comes from a friend that I trust who writes the following:
"This is really neat. Works good. I've called places and had them tell me how to find them too. Saves putting a lot of numbers in you phone. I've had it for a while, so maybe you already know about it. This email gives a nice video demo. Try it.
FABULOUS TIP
This is great , something FREE.... No charges on the cell Wow!!"
End of his message.
> I encourage you to watch the short video about this service.

> Here is something you will want to have and use ! I still remember when the telephone company charged me $0.00 now they charge $1.00 to $1.50 to get a phone number from information.
> My compliments to Google!

> Just leave it up to Google to come up with something like this!!!

> Here's a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone speed dial: 1-800-goog411. This is an awesome service from Google, and it's free -- great when you are driving on the road with no pen, pencil or paper handy..
>
> Don't waste your money on information calls and don't waste your time manually dialing the number. I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course and I don't know the number. I hit the speed dial for information that I have programmed.
>
> The voice at the other end says, "City & State." I say, " Garland , Texas ." He says, "Business, Name or Type of Service." I say, Firewheel Golf Course." He says, "Connecting" and Firewheel answers the phone. How great is that? This is nationwide and it is absolutely free!
