Has anyone swapped out the shower door with a frameless one. I've been looking for the appropriate hardware and can't seam to find hinges that will attach to the 5/8 plywood. I'd also like to remove the aluminum edge molding and use something with out a million screws showing maybe some type of extruded channel that can be silicones in place.

Some ideas and considerations:

Goggle aluminum channel and J channel. You will probably have to get creative and pull ideas from several sources.

Are you planning to use glass doors or acrylic? Lighter weight will provide more options. Glass will need to be tempered. Check cabinet hardware for hinges for glass doors. Corrosion resistant hardware might be hard to find.

I would not use silicone to attach metal to wood. A adhesive caulk or epoxy would be my preference.

Bobk I'm probably going to use 3/8 acrylic it a gray tint. My other boat has them and I'm 7 years never had an issue they clean well

My OEM door is aluminum framed acrylic and 36 years old with no issues. It doesn't even feel like 1/4". Bright Al trim seems to hold up well in the environment.

If you need a source for all makes of plastic here in central CT let me know, you may already have someone. I do know acrylic is fragile(it will crack). please do some research. Lexan, makrolon, polycarbonate, basically the same. and PETG might be other options to consider. My source is vacationing now or i would have asked for you.

i would enjoy seeing some before and after photos.

Thanks for your input. I will look at a more appropriate material other then acrylic. I have a friend who works at laird plastics. Any time I need sheet material he hooks me up.
