Went out fishing yesterday from PT canaveral FL. New gambling ship owned by Vegas Cruise lines. Appears to be just another old small ship they added alot of super structure to it but to comp for narrow beam the added pontoons to the sides and rear, what an ugly pc of crap. Anyhow saw it comming back in at end of the day and Harbor Pilot met it and dumpd the pilot off on side ramp then boat went to stern of the ship and was in the prop wash and for an unknow reason the pilot boat drove all the way to the stern and road up on the rear skirt of the ship. Pilot boat bow came all the way up out of the water. Appeared the guy was just screwing around. Would have been a good photo though.

Also in port was a large blue hull yacht. Was told 365'. Had a 60' express on the rear starboard side and a 60' blow boat on the other side and what a heafty set of davits.

Thank God!... a thread about boats. I didn't forget my camera.

We took a ride through The Gorge below Chattanooga on a 70' Skipperliner called "Blue Moon". Did the same thing last year as the three of us can ride that boat cheaper than I can buy fuel our boat.

As we were coming into Chattanooga, I saw something in the distance and couldn't figure out what the heck it was. All I knew was that it was big and moving fast in our direction.

As it got closer, I could see it was a catamaran.

This thing passed us and was really hauling.

Once we got to the waterfront, we found out it's a new high speed, 70 passenger catmaran that also does scenic cruises (if you're into blurs). It's tied into The Aquarium somehow. No doubt we'll ride that one next time. We walked down onto the docks to see if we could see the Schuman's, but I ran across a guy I know with MarineMax who told me they hadn't made it in yet.

According to him, that cat was put into service this past July. It's powered by four diesel engines hooked to waterjets, and it cruises at 55mph. When I mentioned the fact it must burn a heck of a lot of fuel, Marty smiled and said, "Yeah, and they buy it from us."

Went to Chattanooga again this week-end and rode this cool cat. It was pretty awesome cruising at over 50mph, and the boat was very smooth. Talk about acceleration, that thing had it. For whatever reason, the Captain enjoyed reversing the flow to drop the bow and stop us on a dime. No wonder they instructed everyone to stay in their seats until further notice.

I spoke to one of the crew who told me it was powered by four C18 Cats which according to him are not yet available to the public. They are rated at 850 each and are each hooked to water jets. Accoring to him, Cat is going to come pull those engines in January to see how they're holding up.

Oh yeah, saw the Shuman's boat parked on the MarineMax dock behind the Aquarium, but it appeared there was nobody home.

We are at Chattanooga at the Aquarium, here on the boat on and off. Fanfare was with us the first day here. We're out touring the Chattanooga area.

Yeah, we did the Aquarium yesterday as well as the boat ride having spent the night at Hales Bar Friday and Saturday. Ryan and I came back to the Aquarium this morning to finish up the saltwater side we didn't get around to yesterday. The rest of our group went to a jewelry show in Gatlinburg... YUCK!!!

I could have sworn you had a 53ED, so when I first saw your boat from the street, I thought it was another Hatt. You guys should ride that catamaran as it was a unique experience as well as being very reasonable.

Sounds pretty much like the power in the Mackinac Island cats, although they run 2 and not 4 C18's. So 50mph seems for real with that much power!

To anyone who goes to Chattanooga and wants to see "The Gorge", I'd go with "Blue Moon Cruises". Yeah, it's an 8-10mph cruise, but they take you the entire length of the river from Chattanooga to Hales Bar. It's a one way deal though, and they bus you to/from Hales Bar depending on whether you take the down river trip or the return.

The only disappointing part of that ride on the cat (besides crappy weather) was the fact they turned around before they got to the "T Wall" across from the Racoon Mountain pumping station. That is no doubt the most impressive part of that section of river as climbers from all over the world come to play on that 1.5 mile stretch of cliffs.
