  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
40' DOUBLE CABIN-Series I (1986 - 1989)
Just got back from my 12th Newport to Bermuda race. 1st in class 5 IRC and the 2nd race in a row we accomplished that feat. All J-44s in that class. Only piped up to 32knts in the stream this year and only for a short time. Still looking for my dream Hat however still not convinced we're coming out of this economic mess.

Congratulations! So what was your official time?

made it in 93 hours

Be neat to see some pictures. Sailboat racing sure is a different ball of wax. 12 times on a leg that long definitely shows you got salt in them vains.

That's impressive. Congrats on a safe and successful trip.

Funny you should bring this up. A couple of weeks ago we were enjoying some Dark and Stormys and passing around a slide viewer.

My dad used to sail that race back in the early '60s. On one return trip they got hammered by a storm that was dropping waterspouts everywhere. He had a 3D camera and the pictures of the boat on the 40 ft waves the next morning are spectacular. Unfortunately they're slides or I'd share them here.

I've spent a lot of time on a J35 and a little time on a Farr40. We were only doing one design racing at the time. I don't like over nighters!

This was one design, 9 j-44s

You can take old slides into Walmart or any photo place and they will put them into picture form. You can get a disk for the computer also. rebel

I assume that was addressed at me. The problem is they're not conventional slides, they're 3-D so they're about 3 inches wide with two transparencies. Won't fit in machines that scan conventional slides.

Skip, Congratulation on a job well done. Not just once either. Sounds like a fantastic feat.

there has never been a better time to move up to a Hatt. even if the depression does hit us. Jim

I just sold my Oyster 35 racing sailboat. After 30 Port Huron to Mackinac races and 7 firsts, I think it is time to stop and smell the roses. Our boat has also done 5 Chicago Mac races with 2 firsts and a 3rd. overall. A great young US Navy guy bought it. He took it from Detroit to Newport RI in 10 days.
