Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1983 - 1987)
I have a 1985 36C and I need to mount the Fluxgate Compass somewhere in the boat. I was thinking under the bottom step which is currently a small storage area. The AC panel is in this area but most likely will not be used while under way. Does anyone have any experience with this location or a better one? TomT13@aol.com

Mine is in the eyebrow. Decent location, given that its away from anything ferrous metal that could cause problems and is on centerline.

I mounted mine in the rear lazerette. Seems to work out well, been that way for 3 0r 4 years. My Auto pilot box is in what used to be the lower control station. if you put it under the steps , becareful of the batteries, magnetic field. use a handheld compass and hold it where you plan to put the fluxgate compass to determine any anolomies.

Checking the area with a handheld compass sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the tip.
