Why would there be different models for the two engines? It would seem that there would be 2 senders per engine (one supply and one return) and one guage per engine. What's the difference?
The two are linked together.
One is just a data instrument, the other has the GPS interface in it and can accept signals from the first.
With the twin system installed you have one side that has the GPS connected to it to provide MPG information. The other just feeds pulses to that and also displays its own GPH numbers for that engine. The one with the GPS can be switched (with a toggle you install) between GPH (for that engine) and total MPG for the pair. Each also displays total fuel consumed and engine hours to the nearest tenth - the former can be reset (you need to mount reset switches) while the latter is permanent from the time the instrument is installed.
I have this setup on Gigabite and its the cat's meow. You also need new tach senders if you have a sync as the stock ones on the end of the Glendinning will not work properly due to cable whip (the readings will be all over the place.) You can get those from Xintex; they are pass-throughs so you don't have to rip out the entire tach sending / sync cable system and re-do it. I tapped into the stock tach wiring harness at the engine room terminal blocks since the original tachs have to come out anyway.
Its quite an expensive system ($2000 or so) and requires a LOT of installation work (they estimate 20 hours to install the system and are not lying - it really does take that long to do a good job of it - more if you have access problems for the wiring and such.) The senders are the big challenge and require thought and sometimes some engineering work as there are rules as to how the fuel lines have to run to them if you expect it to work properly. Expect a couple hundred bucks worth of fittings, hose and wiring to complete the install as well.
You'll learn more about how YOUR boat uses fuel and where to run with this system in the first hour with it than you knew about it in the five years previous. Seriously. If you're interested in economy AT ALL its definitely worth having on board.
If you pay a yard to install this figure on $5k all up including the instruments (if you supply them.) I did the install myself on Gig, and was surprised at how detail-oriented you have to be if you expect it to work properly.....
