Hatteras Model
48' YACHT FISHERMAN (1972 - 1975)
Just got home, and it looks like I beat everyone else, since there are no new posts. So here is the first!

Man! What a great time! Randy my friend, you definitely know how to have a good time! Al and Bobby thank you very much for the Southern Hospitality! Al and Bobby looked after all of us that showed up on their door step. Al even drove my wife and I to the show. Best of all they made sure that FreeBird stayed out of trouble, by making him stay at their house. LOL Al and Bobby opened their wonderful home up to this crew of misfits, and this let us park near the show, and they gave us excellent directions to every destination we wanted to head off to for dinner or drinks. Al got to show off his boat, he has a very nice 53C, and the wood is outstanding! I had the chance to meet several of our forum members. Myron, you are my missing brother, LOL I will see you again soon. The Nun outfit at the Halloween party was a riot along with your sister ;) ;) I would have thought you two good Chatholic girls would have been able to show, Randy (Bubba) the error of his ways and seperate him from the Bubba Keg, but I looked around and he had corrupted both of you! Guz was at the Halloween party too! Con mucho gusto para connocerle, el placer era mio! I have more names to add to this list and a lot more details but I still have to unpack. See you guys later.

The Haloween Party was quite the event! I just got home from Ft. lauderdale, and it was a good show, but the stories I could tell...

You guys all suck!!!! Not really, I forgot my printout of phone #s and could not find ya'll. All in all a good time but you really need 2 days to cover all the areas. Spent some money, looked at some boats and saw more silicone boobs on old ladies than I ever care to see again..... We did tour the 64' Hatt Conv Enclosed Flybridge. I still do not know how you could effectively fish it without trashing the entire cockpit but you could have one heck of a cocktail party! If anybody has a few extra dollars they would like to throw away I think Randy could use a couple of those MAN 2000 16V monsters with that 24" exaust and the ZF 30" 5 blade props:eek:

Loved the boat show this year. My thanks to Hatteras for the wonderful hospitality, tickets and a terrific lunch. The 54 is gorgeous.

First, I would like to echo the sentiments offered by Chris as to offering thanks to Al and Bobbie Scarborough (spelled correctly!) for sharing their home with a less than perfect stranger!

As with the CDR, the best part of FLIBS was getting to make new friends like Al and Bobbie, and to finally meet Chris, my long lost brother who I have had countless phone conversations with. His wife was a "Joy" to be around too! I can tell she is used to keeping Chris out of trouble. I hope I helped with that too!

Chris, I can't believe you didn't share the "Elvis" story! Chris, his wife Joy, and yours truly were dropping a friend off at a hotel after leaving the Halloween party at Shooters. When we pulled up front, Joy said "look, it's Elivs", referring to a guy who walked out of the hotel lobby into the parking lot. We all laughed and then Chris said "no, it looks more like Reggie Fountain!...wait a minute.....IT IS REGGIE FOUNTAIN!!! ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW!!!...HEY REGGIE!!!". Low and behold, ole' Reggie came strutting (staggering?) over to the car and made nice with us. Chris talked about the 38TE he owns, and we had both previously met Reggie. When we left the hotel, we spotted Reggie walking down the sidewalk. Chris asked if he needed a ride, but he was apparently just out for a stroll "incognito". Yeah right, with a black Fountain emblazoned jacket, and him sporting that signature black Donald Trump inspired hairdo! Better wear some camo and a wig next time Reggie! :D

Oh man what a trip! Byron, you should wear that Nun outfit to work! It may help, but don't make a "habit" of it! It was good to meet him too also after several phone conversations. I had ole' SwissHatt figured for a skinny little preppy dude with an alligator on his shirt! LOL. He had already dispelled half of that misconception prior to our first date. He said he was a big preppy dude with a pony tail! Tim (HunsHatt) was a hoot too, for a geographically challenged feller! He even brought me a t-shirt with his boats name and home port on it. Reckon if I wear that I would be acceptable "up north"? I gave him one of my Southern Security hats, so he'll fit in "down south". I know I'm going to forget somebody, but ya'll never picked up the phone or brought me a present! Okay okay, as always it was good to see GuzBoy again, and Paul, the other member of the three muskateers who is now my personal tour guide to the right coast. There is a nice marina next to his house, but he won't let me look at it! (I think Darlene likes me  )

I was glad to be able to meet some of the folks from Sam's. Steve McPherson and Kim Smith were just as I had pictured. Never did find Doug though. I still think he may have ran when he saw me coming!

I was a good boy for the buying part if you don't count gold nautical jewelry, a GPS for my truck, and a couple of drinks. I fell in love with, forgive me, a new Grand Banks 72 Aleutian. It cost 3 point something, so I guess I'll have to sell at least half of my doublewide and see my taylor about having the depth of my pockets extended! Pat Bustle quickly pointed out the error of my ways. He did find an absolutely stunning (and obtainable) 70CMY for me though. Just when I thought I had that out of my system, here I go again. It's a little more (double) than others I looked at, but man, what a boat. What Grand Banks? Quick, somebody remind me I don't need a bigger boat! Maybe I need to get into the charter business. Ya'll wanna go for a big boat ride?

To any of you purists who may be on the bar today, THIS is what owning a Hatt is all about! Leave your troubles at home and make your way to Miami, and we'll show you boys the error of your ways too!

Hey, the stories don't bother me. It's that damn camera you had that worries me! :D

Well, if you all enjoyed this FLIBS show so much, Miami's is around the corner mid-winter. Feb, I think.

I plan to attend the Miami show which is in February. Let's try to have another get together there too!

I know absolutely nothing about Miami as I have only been to South Beach with GuzBoy and passed through the airport a few times.

Like I said earlier, hanging out with similar minded people is why I became a member of this forum.

The Miami boat show Is closer together and the Miami Beach Convention center is HUGE so I kinda like it better for shopping more vendors, but the Liquredale show has more mega yachts ... hey it was nice meeting everyone new . I missed Al's place :( Thirdhat was a hooot and his guest too ...I can't remember all the new names  must have been the beer ,, but it was fun guys lets do it again in Miami :D

Didn't get to "hookup" with you folks, but had a great time !! 6:00am flight this AM back to JFK and a cab into NYC, but here I sit in the office. Can't wait to go home and get some sleep. Gorgeous boats ... and yeah ... lots of silicone !!

Oh sure..........

Rub it in about the partying, Elvis, food and "water wings" while us "little folks" had to stay home and work.......Geeeeeeeeze !! ;)

I got some cool stuff from Sam's at the show, bought me a genuine brand new Hatteras hat, a new belt, some beverage glasses, and some new Hat shirts! Sam's gave me really good prices and even threw in a nice tote bag to carry all the booty home in. LOL Thanks!

Hey Bubba, sorry we missed you.

Yep, those motors would make ole FREEBIRD fly south for sure! I'm not greedy though, just send me a pair of new Cat C series six bangers of the 550-600hp variety. That way ya'll will have enough money to feed the kitty when we go cruising to the Miami show in February.

Come on down to the Miami show and don't forget to bring your list this time!

Ok you guys are in trouble now, Paul showed me how to upload pictures!

LOL, hey it is nice to see you survived your weekend! things were kinda dull while you were gone. I need to get Al's info so we can send him something nice for puttin up with all of us. You can put names with faces on the Halloween picture and repost it, so everyone knows who the guilty are. LOL :D

Okay boys and girls, I finally found my new Cannon Elph pocket digital camera which had found its way into a West Marine shopping bag where I had stopped before heading to FLIBS. Now if I can just find that dang cord so I can download pics into my computer.

Nothing incriminating (at least not for anybody else) on there, just pics of Al and Bobbie Scarborough, some more shots of me and Chris, and Joy and Chris, and me and Joy.....uh, better delete that one, me and Paul and his buds on the Dusky going marina looking, and some shots of boats at FLIBS.

I'll get 'em up ASAP, so be prepared to think of excuses as to why I have pictures of certain people doing certain things that are certain to raise the eyebrows of certain other people!
