Finish for Teak & Holly Flooring

I am in the process of installing teak and holly plywood (1/4") in my 36' Hatt. any suggestions on a durable finish other than polyureathane? I know that some have used the two part table top expoxy but that seems to turn way to dark over time. Any comments are appreciated. Bob

Teak & Holly Finish

You said it. The best is 2 part polyurethane. I would suggest clear Awlgrip. Wear a resperator for sure and use a fan to exchange the air. You can also use Bristol Finish, available @ bristolfinish.com. This stuff is great for all exterior teak. Great varnish finish with many years of UV protection. Inside on a floorthough, the important thing is abrasion reistence. Awlgrip is great for that.

Re: Teak & Holly Finish

Here in Seattle, I use a product called Seafin on my plywood teak and holly. It's avail from Daly's. I lightly sand the floor, and slop on a thin coat. Use more coats if additional build-up is required (especially the first time). I usually get by with one coat every other year, but probably should apply more frequently. It does turn the wood darker as well.

Bristol Finish

I tried Bristol Finish on the outside steps on my boat last year. Followed the instructionsto the letter. Looked good for about 2 weeks, was completely cloudy and looking like crap in 2 months, totally flaked off in 6 months. Good varnish outside here in Texas usually lasts a year or more.
